William L. Oliver, 95, of Middleton, formerly of Beverly, died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of the late Sally P. (Cole) Oliver. Born in North Adams on Jan. 5, 1926, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ruth (Grundy) Oliver. He was raised and educated in Andover and attended Philips Academy in Andover and Brown University. Mr. Oliver served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service in combat at the Battle of the Bulge. Bill retired from Johnny Appleseed’s in Beverly after many years at age 86. A longtime Beverly resident, he was an avid golfer and loved the beach. Bill was known for his cookouts on Memorial Day and at Beverly Homecoming. He leaves two daughters, Karen Spiridigliozzi and her husband Don of Beverly and Carol Hennessey and her husband Daniel of Peabody, his grandchildren, Erin and Sean Cullen, Megan and Steven Taylor, Brooke Spiridigliozzi, D.J. Hennessey, and Jayne and Casey Disanto, two great-grandchildren, Alex and Myleigh, a sister, Mary White of North Hampton, NH, his longtime companion, Mary Maggiacomo of Middleton, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 5-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
