May 11, 1931 - May 10, 2021
Ruth Marie (Melanson) D’Entremont passed away peacefully at home and into the loving arms of the Lord on May 10th, after a period of declining health, just one day shy of her 90th birthday. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. D’Entremont, with whom she shared over 61 beautiful years of marriage and created a family filled with love and blessings. Ruth was the youngest child born to the late Elizabeth (Bayne) and Ellsworth Melanson, a family of eleven children. She grew up in the Mack Park section of Salem and was a 1948 graduate of St. James School on Federal Street, where she made life-long friendships. It was in that same neighborhood, at Eaton’s Apothecary, where Ruth and Bob first met. They married in 1959 and built their home in Danvers. Here, Ruth hosted many gatherings and created traditions that are now treasured memories. Her greatest joys came from the simple pleasures of time well spent with her loved ones. Prior to retirement, Ruth was a valued colleague at Masconomet School in Topsfield and the North Shore Technical School in Middleton. Her passion for helping others shone through in many roles in life. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her volunteer work with the Religious Education program at St. Alphonsus Parish. Later, Ruth became a communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers and a member of Catholic Daughters, Court Henry A. Sullivan. Later in life, Ruth and Bob enjoyed nearly 30 years of retirement together with ample time to spoil their grandchildren and travel throughout the United States and Europe. Ruth will be remembered for always putting the needs of others ahead of her own, her kind and compassionate nature, and her deep love and devotion to family, friends, and faith throughout her lifetime. In addition to her husband, Ruth leaves her beloved children: William D’Entremont of Salem, Paul & Kristen D’Entremont of Georgetown, Ann & Kevin Noyes of Middleton, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Zachary & Benjamin Noyes, and Kyra, Julia, & Lindsey D’Entremont. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Melanson of Long Beach, California, her sister-in-law, Ursula Melanson of Norfolk, Virginia, as well as several nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom she adored. Ruth was pre-deceased by her loving family: William & Stella Melanson, Mary (May) & Greg Manoogian, Elsie Melanson, Edna & Richard Hamlin, Arthur & Marge Melanson, Laurence & Mary Melanson, Charles & Dorothy (Dot) Melanson, John & Mary (Sis) Melanson, Eileen Melanson, and Raymond Melanson. The family would also like to specifically acknowledge and thank Shirley Barrowclough-Durkee and the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) for the loving care and support given to Ruth that allowed her to stay at home. Ruth’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Attendees are respectfully asked to wear face covering and adhere to social distance guidelines.
