Richard J. Horrigan, 93, of Peabody, passed away on July 2, 2020 at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Brady) Horrigan, with whom he shared sixty-four years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late P. Joseph and Ruth (Nangle) Horrigan. He was raised and educated in Peabody and then served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Dick worked for many years for Hebb Leather Co. in Danvers and Boston, known as “Creese & Cook Co.” He was a member of the AOH and the Elks in Peabody, the Polish Club in Danvers, the Knights of Columbus in Salem, and the Rowley VFW. In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Richard Horrigan of Salisbury, David Horrigan and his wife Maureen of Ipswich, and Ellen Negron and her husband Luis of Danvers. He also leaves his granddaughters, Casey Horrigan and Lindsey Nadeau, two great-granddaughters, Isabelle and Nora, and a sister, Jeanne Griffin of Rowley, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kathleen, and two siblings, Philip Horrigan and Anne McCarthy. Visiting hours are Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. A Graveside Service will be Friday, July 10, 2020 at 11AM in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 30 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. All attendees at the visitation or service are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
