Raymond T. Simard, 76, of Middleton, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was the husband of Marie (DiBattista) Simard, with whom he shared thirty-five years of marriage. Born on Nov. 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Raymond and Catherine (Powers) Simard. He was raised and educated in Everett and was a 1960 graduate of Everett High School. He then served honorably in the U.S. Navy until his discharge in 1963. A longtime Everett resident, Mr. Simard was employed by the MBTA for over thirty years. A friend of Bill W. for thirty-seven years, Ray helped countless friends with their sobriety. He enjoyed travel, swimming, walking, music and was an avid Patriots fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Susan Kelly of Topsfield and four grandchildren, Emily, Bridget, Maire, and Brian Kelly. He also leaves his siblings, Dwight “Jimmy” Barrows, Thomas Barrows and Catherine Simonelli. Along with extended family and friends, he leaves a close nephew, Thomas Green. Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Green. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
