September 8, 1959 - March 24, 2019
Elaine M. (Devarenne) Oliver, 59, of Danvers, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2019 following a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was the loving wife of Brian T. Oliver. Born in Danvers on September 8, 1959, she was the loving daughter of Robert G. Devarenne of Danvers and the late Virginia (Hayden) Devarenne. Elaine attended St. Mary of the Annunciation School and was graduate of Danvers High. She continued her education at Providence College where she graduated with honors in 1981. After graduation she worked for the Army Corps of Engineers before leaving to start a family. When she returned to the work force, she took a job in the Special Education Department at Masconoment Middle/High School and went on to earn a Master of Education degree in special education from Salem State and her CAGS from American International College. She taught for 21 years until she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in October of 2017. In her spare time Elaine enjoyed the beaches of Ogunquit, ME, where she and Brian along with family members spent long days at the beach, reading, listening to music, enjoying family and walks at night holding hands with her true love, Brian. She also enjoyed her trips to Nantucket with her sisters, her Dad and friend Pat. Elaine's other joys were sewing, cooking and graciously hosting all family holidays and events showing off her beautifully decorated sugar cookies and cake pops. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her many friends that she had made through her job at Masconomet, all of whom supported her and Brian through her cancer battle with daily visits and words of encouragement. Elaine's family will be forever grateful for these friendships and for her friendship with her longest and dearest friend, Leslie Glynn, with whom she shared a friendship since first grade. In addition to her father and husband, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage, Elaine is survived by her three sons who she cherished and adored, Matthew T. Oliver and his wife Angela of Salem, Terence B. Oliver of Danvers, Timothy R. Oliver and his wife Erin of Salem, and her true joy, her granddaughter Rosie.
