DANVERS-Andrew J. Ambrose, age 41, son of William and Marylee Ambrose of Danvers, passed away on April 27, 2021 at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton MA., after battling many years of deteriorating health and succumbing to effects of Covid -19. Andrew was born in Salem MA. and raised in Danvers MA. He graduated from Danvers High School and attended North Shore Community College. With a creative soul and artistic spirit, Andrew used his talents through many mediums. Most recently he produced wonderful Japanese swords through blacksmithing, forging his own steel. He also had a black belt in The Martial Arts. Musically, Andrew played many instruments, including guitar, bass and even drums and percussion. He performed with many local musicians and wrote his own songs. Previously Andrew also performed on stage for years, as a juggler and singing in a barbershop quartet. Andrew was most prominently a sculptor and special effects artist, working on various films including but not limited to “The Perfect Storm .“ Early on he was very instrumental in developing various scenes now famous during the Salem MA Haunted Happenings. You can remember him, by looking up at the rooftop gargoyles he was hired to restore, at the old Boston Public Library. The owner of Ambrose Carpentry, Andrew was a successful carpenter and builder and used his impressive skills to highlight many homes on the North Shore. In addition to his parents, William and Marylee, he is survived by his partner, Teann De Marco, his daughters, Cora and Lila Ambrose and son, David Ambrose, his brothers, John Ambrose and wife Kendall, William Ambrose Jr., Timothy Ryan and partner, Heather Forand, Todd Ryan and wife Tammy, and sister, Renee Ambrose, his aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Ambrose of Middleton, Tom and Janice King of Maryland, and Ann Ward of Amesbury and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank his wonderful staff at St Elizabeth’s Hospital ICU for their compassion and loving care of Andrew. We also wish to thank all those who supported Andrew over the years through his long illness, especially Dr. Michael Holick, Endocrinologist at Boston Medical Center. There will be a celebration of Andrew’s life in June.
