Aline J. (Riendeau) Smith, 83, of Peabody, died Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late William H. Smith, with whom she shared sixty-one years of marriage. Born in Irasburg, VT on Dec. 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Gertrude (Authier) Riendeau. She was raised and educated in Pawtucket, RI, where she was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. A longtime resident of Reading, Aline was employed by Dunkin Donuts as a baker. Following her retirement, she and her late husband resided in Oldsmar, FL for several years before returning to the area. A communicant of Saint Richard Church in Danvers, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She leaves her children, Steven W. Smith and his wife Linda of Tewksbury, Debra J. Tarini and her husband John of Charlestown, RI, Paula J. Bassett and her husband Fred of Salisbury, and Carole L. Smith of Danvers, five grandchildren, Gregory Smith, Eric Smith, Craig Bassett, Lauren Bassett, and Brian Bassett, and 5 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lana, Noah, Sam, and Fiona. As requested, funeral services are private and there are no visiting hours. Burial took place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Aline’s name may be made to the Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.
