THOMPSON(EATON) BARBARA - OF BEVERLY- Barbara Louise (Eaton) Thompson, 81, died August 10, 2008 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Archie Thompson.
Born on Aug. 29, 1926 in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Estella (Bullerwell) Eaton. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School in Danvers. Mrs. Thompson was employed as a social worker for many years. She had been employed at the Danvers State Hospital for ten years and the Northeast Family Institute for ten years. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed a trip to Ireland and more frequent trips to Maine.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Walter Jankowski of Beverly and Pamela and George Christo of N. Andover, two brothers, Gordon Eaton of Beverly and David Eaton of Winchester and a sister Marilyn Frans of Texas, three grandchildren, George Christo, Jr. of Washington, D.C., Gregory Christo of N.Andover and Jill Jankowski of Beverly, four great grandchildren, George III, Carly, Benjamin and Sophia Christo and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Patricia Alexander.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Wed., Aug. 13, 2008 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in N. Beverly Cemetery. Vst. hrs are Tues 4PM-8PM. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial and Honor Program c/o St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105.
