CREEDEN, RICHARD C. -- Richard C. Creeden, 88, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 28, 2008. He was the loving husband of Marion (Kennedy) Creeden, with whom he shared sixty-five years of marriage.
Born in Danvers on Feb. 7, 1920, Dick was the son of the late John and Mary (Crosby) Creeden. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1938.
Dick was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Until the time of his retirement, he worked as a salesman for various companies.
Dick's great love was music. He was a well-known and accomplished musician. His jazz band, Richard's Barn, played at the Village Green for many years. He also played regularly at the Sportsman's Lodge on Plum Island, The Press Room in Portmouth, and Romie's in Danvers.
He is survived by two children and their spouses: Susan and Paul Connolly of Norwood and John and Sally Creeden of Merrimac; 2 grandchildren: Allison Martellini and her husband Cliff and Colin Creeden and his fiancé Destiny Vaughn, all of Merrimac; 2 great-grandchildren: Madison and Rocco Martellini; and many nieces and nephews. The youngest of ten children, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Ann Goday, Margaret Peterson, Eileen McLaughlin, David, Donald, Cornelius, Orin, and Charles Creeden.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at 11AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Thursday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923. Donations in Dick's name may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O.
